Wire Harness Design Verification

Updated: Oct 23

What is DVP&R?

Design Verification Plan and Report is referred to as DVP&R. It is a document outlining the procedures to be followed to confirm that a product—in this case, a wire harness—meets the design specifications.

For a wire harness DVP&R, some tasks that can be necessary include:

To confirm that all wires are correctly connected and operating, test the wire harness for electrical continuity.

Confirming that the wire gauge and insulation in the wire harness fulfill the necessary current-carrying capability and voltage rating.

Testing for reliability of the wire harness includes putting it through vibration, extremes in temperature, and other environmental factors.

Ensuring that the wire harness satisfies all mechanical standards and has the clearances and routing needed to fit into the planned installation space.

Confirming that the wire harness complies with any necessary legal requirements, such as those concerning electromagnetic compatibility or fire resistance.

All of this data can be managed within EB Cable, providing you with a single location to manage and share all of your wire harness information.
